Sue Zhou

Sue Zhou has extensive experience in the legal and compliance field, particularly in the fintech industry. Sue is currently working as the General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer at Ellevest since October 2022. Prior to that, they served as the Senior Regulatory Counsel at Digit, where they played a vital role in the legal counsel for Digit's Long Term Savings features from January 2021 to October 2022.

Before joining Digit, Sue worked as a Legal and Compliance Consultant at Retirable, where they focused on providing financial stability and professional advice to individuals. Sue also founded their own vegan snack company called Byrdfood, where they successfully created and marketed healthy packaged snacks. Moreover, they worked as a Legal & Compliance Consultant at Betterment, where they supported their compliance program.

Sue has also held several leadership roles in the legal and compliance field. At Stash Invest, they served as the Director of Legal and Compliance, working on legal, regulatory, business, and strategic matters. Sue also served as the General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer at WiseBanyan, where they ensured regulatory compliance and worked closely with different teams for business growth.

Earlier in their career, Sue gained experience in hedge funds, working as an Associate at 40 North Management LLC and as a Senior Associate in the Hedge Fund Regulatory Compliance Group at Constellation Advisers, LLC.

Sue Zhou obtained a J.D. degree from Fordham University School of Law between 2008 to 2011. Prior to that, they studied at New York University from 2004 to 2008, where they earned a B.A., cum laude, in Economics and also another B.A., cum laude, in Biology. In addition to their formal education, they obtained certifications such as Series 24, Series 63, and Series 7 from the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) in 2016.
