James Thurgood

James Thurgood has a diverse work experience starting from 2013. James worked as a Solicitor in Commercial Litigation at Shakespeare Martineau from July 2013 to December 2014. Following that, they took on the role of Legal Counsel at Care UK, a group-level position in a £750m P. E. residential care, healthcare, and community services company, from January 2015 to December 2015.

In 2016, James joined Metro Bank (UK) as a Solicitor, where they worked across various disciplines, including dispute resolution, regulatory affairs, and commercial matters. James was part of a team nominated for In-House Financial Services and Banking Team of the Year in 2018. James held different roles within the company, such as Lead Solicitor from August 2018 to November 2019 and Head of Legal from November 2019 to November 2021. In the latter role, they were responsible for the strategic development of the legal function and transforming it into a proactive legal risk management function.

Most recently, in November 2021, James became the Head of Legal at Elliptic, where they resumed their focus on legal management and oversight.

James Thurgood attended Colchester Royal Grammar School from 1995 to 2002, where they did not pursue any specific degree or field of study. Following that, they attended Nottingham Trent University from 2007 to 2011 and obtained a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree with a focus on Law. From 2011 to 2012, they attended The University of Law and completed the Legal Practice Course (LPC) in an unspecified field of study.
