Senior 2 VFX Artist at Elodie Games

Oliver McDonald has been in the games industry since 2009, working for various companies. Oliver began their career as an Animation Intern at Lionhead Studios, where they hand keyed 3D creature animation. After completing their internship, they were hired as a contractor and then returned to university. In 2011, they worked as a Visual Effects Artist at Climax on an unannounced AAA title for console. In 2012, they joined Sony Computer Entertainment Europe as a Senior Visual Effects Artist on RIGS Mechanised Combat League (PSVR), Killzone Shadowfall (PS4) and Killzone Mercenary (PS Vita). Their duties included creating all the visual effects for the games, setting up and debugging effects in game, and interacting with other departments to solve issues relating to effects. In 2017, they joined Riot Games as a Visual Effects Artist, where they created VFX for skins from 15 different thematics across 23 champions. Oliver also set up an initiative to update the VFX of older champions. In 2021, they joined Elodie Games as a Senior 2 VFX Artist.

Oliver McDonald attended Bournemouth University from 2006 to 2008, where they earned a FdSc CAD - 3D Modelling and Animation degree in Animation. Oliver then attended the University of Portsmouth from 2008 to 2011, where they earned a BA Animation degree in Animation.
