George Karkanias

With nearly three decades of academic and industry experience in neuroscience and CNS therapeutic area, George Karkanias is the Associate Vice President of Medical Affairs at Emalex.

Before joining Emalex, Dr. Karkanias served as North American Head of Medical Affairs and Operations at Medday Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Earlier industry experience includes Pfizer, Kaye, Scholer, Fierman, and Hays & Handler, LLP Law Firm. In addition, he is a founder of two companies and inventor on several patents.

Dr. Karkanias was on the faculty of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine for 10 years. During that time, he was awarded several grants from NIH and private foundations and has published numerous peer-reviewed publications including in Nature Medicine, Nature Neuroscience, Journal of Biological Chemistry, and The Journal of Neuroscience.

Dr. Karkanias has a Ph.D. in Neuroscience and a Master of Science degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, an MBA from the University of Massachusetts and a Bachelor of Science degree from Rutgers University.
