Nikki Hurst, OTD, OTRL has a diverse work experience. Nikki began their career in 2006 as a Gymnastics Coach at Gymstars Gymnastics. In 2010, they became a Respite Care Provider at Premier Healthcare Services. From 2011-2013, Hurst worked as a Long Term Substitute Teacher at Modesto Unified School District, a Substitute Teacher at CUSD, and an RTI Teacher at TUSTIN UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT. In 2014, they became a Substitute Teacher at Hawthorne Unified School District. In 2015, Hurst worked as an Occupational Therapy Intern at Pediatric Therapy Network, where they created and implemented treatment plans in outpatient pediatrics as well as school-based occupational therapy, and developed and implemented curriculums for social skills and handwriting intensive summer camps. In 2016, they worked as an Occupational Therapy Intern at Centinela Skilled Nursing Facility, and as a Therapeutic Content Lead and UX Researcher at Embodied, Inc., where they informed interaction and content design, conducted user experience and clinical research, and wrote and developed programs for the social robot Moxie across a variety of settings.
Nikki Hurst, OTD, OTRL obtained their Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from the University of Southern California in 2017. Prior to that, they earned a Master of Science (M.S.) in Occupational Therapy from the same university in 2016. Hurst also holds a Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential from California State University, Stanislaus, which they obtained in 2011. Additionally, they earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology from California State University, Stanislaus in 2010.
