Deanna Johnston

Deanna Johnston has a vast work experience that spans over several companies and roles. Deanna began their career as an Associate at Klinedinst PC in 1998 before moving on to Seyfarth Shaw, where they worked as an Associate from 2001 to 2003. Johnston then joined Jones Day as a Senior Associate, specializing in Corporate Governance & Business Intelligence, until 2009. At Jones Day, they managed complex commercial cases in various industries.

In 2009, Johnston transitioned to Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) as an Associate General Counsel and Vice President Litigation and Coverage Counsel. In this role, they oversaw and resolved corporate litigation and insurance bad faith cases for the company until 2015.

Following their time at Allianz, Johnston worked at Lake Street Consultants as the Principal for Legal Consulting & Strategic Business Development, advising start-up companies and small businesses on legal and compliance matters. From 2016 to 2020, they served as General Counsel and Vice President of Compliance & People Operations at Embroker, a venture-backed start-up company. Deanna was responsible for legal and compliance functions, including fundraising activities, regulatory compliance, and privacy and cybersecurity regulations.

In 2020, Johnston joined Chief as a Founding Member in San Francisco. Chief is a private network dedicated to empowering senior women leaders. Additionally, they became a Member of Binary Reign AdvisoryCloud and ConvrtX AdvisoryCloud, both in 2020.
