Chilaluck (Charlene) Konkankit

Scientific Developer I at Emerald Cloud Lab

Chilaluck (Charlene) Konkankit has a diverse work experience in the field of chemistry. In 2022, they began working as a Scientific Developer I at Emerald Cloud Lab. From 2015-2022, they were a Postdoctoral Research Associate and a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Cornell University, where they instructed and supervised undergraduate students in honors analytical chemistry and physical chemistry laboratory courses, designed and beta-tested final laboratory practical experiments, and actively engaged with corresponding professors to discuss logistics, experiments, procedures, deadlines, and students' grades. Chilaluck (Charlene) was also a Graduate Research Assistant at Cornell University, where they designed a combinatorial one-pot approach for synthesizing rhenium tricarbonyl Schiff-base complexes in a 96-well plate format using a microwave, performed screening for anticancer agents to identify lead compounds, and determined the mechanism of cell death for lead compounds using a variety of methods. From 2011-2015, they were a Chemistry Stockroom Assistant and an Undergraduate Research Assistant at UC Irvine. As a Chemistry Stockroom Assistant, they assembled chemicals and equipment for multiple student laboratory courses, assisted the stockroom manager with tasks to support teaching laboratories, and organized and maintained a high-functioning stockroom. As an Undergraduate Research Assistant, they synthesized, characterized, and studied magnetite and manganese-zinc ferrite nanoparticles using air-free techniques, UV-vis spectroscopy, TEM, and spectrofluorometry, controlled polymerization of polydopamine and polyethylene glycol on magnetite and ferrite surfaces, and functionalized amino-terminated DNA onto magnetic nanoparticles.

Chilaluck (Charlene) Konkankit's educational history includes a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Inorganic Chemistry from Cornell University (2015-2020), a Master of Science - MS in Inorganic Chemistry from Cornell University (2015-2017), a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from UC Irvine (2011-2015), and a High School Diploma from Sherman Oaks Center for Enriched Studies (2003-2011).
