Zechen Zhang

Scientific Developer at Emerald Cloud Lab

Zechen Zhang has three distinct work experiences. From 2015 to 2022, they worked as a Research Assistant and Teaching Assistant at Virginia Tech. During this time, they designed and fabricated a unique wedge-shaped nanoscale confinement with photolithography technique and subsequent anodic/thermal bonding in clean room. Zechen also developed an optical model based on ray tracing (transfer matrix method utilizing scipy). In 2012, they founded TEDxTHU, independently organized TED events at Tsinghua University, Beijing and was a curator for its inaugural event. From 2022 onward, they have been a Scientific Developer at Emerald Cloud Lab.

Zechen Zhang began their education in 2009, when they attended Tsinghua University and earned a BS in Polymer Science and Engineering. Zechen then attended Carnegie Mellon University from 2013 to 2014, where they earned a Master of Science (MS) in Colloids, Polymers & Surfaces. Finally, they are currently attending Virginia Tech, where they are pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Chemical Engineering.
