Carol Henderson

Carol Henderson currently serves as the Vice Provost for Diversity and Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer at Emory University since August 2019, also advising the President on related matters. Henderson is a Professor Emerita in English and Africana Studies at the University of Delaware, a position held since December 2019 following a distinguished career at the institution that included nearly 25 years of service in various roles such as Vice Provost for Diversity and Professor of English and Black American Studies. Henderson's leadership has been pivotal in advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, including the development of an Institutional Diversity Action Plan. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. in English from the University of California, Riverside, an MA in English from California State University-Dominguez Hills, and a BA in Political Science from UCLA.
