Cheryl Keshner is a seasoned advocate in poverty law with extensive experience in providing support to low-income communities, particularly Latino immigrants in Long Island. As a Senior Paralegal and Community Advocate at Empire Justice Center since April 2008, Cheryl has focused on crisis intervention and facilitating access to public benefits and services. Prior experience includes serving as a Social Worker and Legal Advocate at Nassau/Suffolk Law Services from September 1993 to April 2008, where Cheryl supported individuals facing challenges related to welfare, housing, and domestic violence. Additionally, Cheryl worked as a Community Organizer for the NYC Commission on Human Rights Neighborhood Stabilization Program from September 1984 to September 1990, where advocacy for low-income tenants was a primary focus. Cheryl holds two Master of Social Work degrees from Hunter College School of Social Work and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Queens College.
