Jason Velez

Jason Velez has had a varied and impressive career. Jason began their professional experience in 2009 as an Intern at the State Law Library of Virginia, where they conducted research, designed the Virginia Legislative Research Pamphlet, and created a database of Virginia Circuit Court proceedings. In 2011, they moved into the role of Editor at Glossy News, where they generated record level traffic and edited images and articles for content and grammar. From 2012 to 2016, they held the role of Marketing Sales Manager at Legend Brewing Co. and Documentary Filmmaker at Friends of Hollywood Cemetery. In 2016, they also began a role as Assistant Director at the Fund for the Public Interest. In 2017, they took on the role of Software Support Tech at Richmond Professional Lab and continued their role as Assistant Director at the Fund for the Public Interest. In 2019, they began a role as NIST Analyst at LightGrid, LLC. Most recently, in 2021, they began a role as Payroll Operations Specialist at Employdrive, where they print, seals, and packages all client payroll print jobs within quality parameters and deadlines, assists the Tax team, and manages delivery of local and UPS delivery packages.

Jason Velez received a Certificate of Proficiency in Spanish from Universidad Internacional (UNITER) in 2010. Jason then attended Virginia Commonwealth University, earning a Bachelor's degree in History in 2010 and a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Public/Applied History in 2016.
