Daniel Cottam

Dr. Cottam completed his undergraduate studies at Brigham Young University. Afterwards, he returned to Texas to attend medical school at the University of Texas. His residency was completed at Nassau University Medical Center in Long Island, New York. After leaving his residency, Dr. Cottam completed a two-year fellowship at the prestigious Mark Ravitch ⁄ Leon C. Hirsch Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh.

Since fellowship he has performed thousands of bariatric surgeries and published groundbreaking research on inflammation in obesity and diabetes and bariatric surgery. He also helped pioneer both the sleeve and the single anastomosis duodenal switch as primary options for weight loss. He is an active teacher and has trained hundreds of surgeons from around the world.
