Richard Wake

Insight & Innovation Director at En Route International

Richard Wake has a diverse and extensive work experience in various design and creative roles. Richard started their career in 2001 as an Automotive Account Designer at Guilford Europe, where they were responsible for textile and graphic design for clients such as Saab, Volvo, and The Ford Group. Richard then joined the Watermark Group in 2002 as a Product Development Executive and subsequently became a Senior Designer. At Watermark, they also held the roles of Innovation Manager and Head of Design, overseeing design projects in the airline and retail industries, managing teams, and engaging in trend research. In 2007, they briefly worked as the Head of Design and Product Development in Hong Kong for Harmony Onboard. Richard then moved to Potmstudios, a member of the Gategroup, taking on the role of Head of Design APAC in Singapore, supporting ten group brands in the region. In 2011, they founded Awake Design Limited and served as Director, providing highly innovative creative services to blue-chip clients in industries such as travel, guest experience, and automotive. Most recently, Richard has been working at En Route International since 2013, initially as a Creative Director and currently as an Insight & Innovation Director. In this position, they are responsible for global marketing, strategy, product design, packaging development, and sustainability strategy.

Richard Wake completed their education in a chronological order. Richard first attended The Kings School Peterborough from 1990 to 1993, where they obtained nine higher grade GCSEs, including subjects such as Maths, English Language and Literature, and Dual Award Science. Subsequently, they attended The Rutland College from 1993 to 1996, where they pursued A-levels in Art, Design, PE, along with other subjects such as Maths, English Literature, and English Language. Following this, they attended Loughborough University from 1996 to 1997, completing a BTEC Foundation in Art and Design. Lastly, they continued at Loughborough University from 1997 to 2000, earning a BA (Hons) in Woven Textiles Design.
