Corrie van Niekerk has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Corrie has significant experience in information technology and security roles within the mining industry. Corrie started their career in 1989 as an Industrial Instrumentation Technician and Chief Technician at Harmony Gold Mine. Corrie then moved on to roles such as Instrumentation Technician and Acting Chief Instrumentation Technician at Oryx Gold Mine, and I.T. Manager at Oryx Gold Mine (Genmin). In 1998, they became the Regional I.T. Manager at GFL Free State for Gold Fields Ltd. Corrie later joined Gold Fields Ltd. as an IT Operations Manager in 2000 and worked in this position until 2004. During this time, they gained expertise in various domains, including Access Control, Physical Security, Telecommunications and Network Security, Information Security Governance and Risk Management, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Planning, Software Development Security, Legal and Compliance, and Security Architecture and Design. In 2012, they became the Regional ICT Manager for MENA & Eurasia at Gold Fields Ltd., where they implemented an ICT governance framework and ensured compliance with internal and external requirements. Corrie continued to work for Gold Fields Ltd. in various roles, such as ICT Manager at Gold Fields: Ghana and ICT Manager at Gold Fields Ltd., until 2016. In 2016, they joined Endeavour Mining Corporation as the Group IT Manager and was later promoted to Vice President of Information Technology in October 2020. Corrie holds certifications in CISSP, CISA, and ITIL.

Corrie van Niekerk's education history includes a CISSP certification from ISC2, obtained in 2012, with a field of study in Information Systems Security. In 2014, they obtained a CISA certification from ISACA, with a field of study in Information systems auditing. In 1996, they received an ITIL- Certificate in IT infrastructure management from Foster Mellier - ITIL®, focusing on Service Management. Prior to that, from 1983 to 1986, they studied at Bloemfontein Technical College, earning an N dip in Electronic Engineering with a field of study in Telecommunication. Earlier in their education, from 1979 to 1981, they also attended Bloemfontein Technical College and obtained an N 6 qualification in Telecommunication. Additionally, Corrie van Niekerk has obtained additional certifications including Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) from ISACA in 2014, and Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) from (ISC)² in 2012.
