Muhammad Imran Khalil has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Muhammad Imran began their career at Deloitte & Touche Pakistan in 1997, where they served as a Manager in Assurance and Advisory until 2003. Muhammad Imran then moved on to Naveena Exports (Private) Limited, where they held the position of Head of Internal Audit for a brief period in 2003. Muhammad Imran joined National Investment Trust Limited in the same year as a Section Manager and stayed until 2006.

In 2006, Muhammad Imran Khalil joined KASB Funds Limited and took on various roles including Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and Head of Operations. Muhammad Imran continued their work at KASB Funds Limited until 2011, during which time they also served as the Acting Chief Executive Officer.

After their tenure at KASB Funds Limited, Muhammad Imran Khalil joined UBL Fund Managers as the Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary in 2011. Muhammad Imran then moved to Engro Foods Limited in 2012, where they held the position of Head of Internal Audit until 2015.

In 2015, Muhammad Imran Khalil became the Chief Financial Officer of Engro Polymer & Chemicals Ltd and served in that role until 2018. Since 2018, they have been an integral part of Engro Corp, initially serving as the Vice President / Group Head - SAP Transformation and currently working as the Vice President Finance.

Muhammad Imran Khalil completed their Matric from The City School in 1993, with a field of study in Science. Muhammad Imran then pursued their Intermediate degree in Commerce from Defence Authority Degree College for Men from 1993 to 1995. Afterwards, from 1995 to 1997, they earned their B.Com degree in Commerce from Karachi University. Finally, from 1997 to 2002, they attended the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan to become a Chartered Accountant.
