Chief Development Officer, Executive Committee Member at Enterome

Joel Richard, PhD, HDR has extensive work experience in the field of biopharmaceutical research and development. Joel is currently serving as the Chief Development Officer at Enterome since 2023. Prior to that, they were a Scientific Advisory Board Member at Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Montpellier starting from 2022.

Joel has also worked as an Independent Consultant, where they held the position of Senior Executive - Biopharmaceutical R&D from February 2023 to April 2023. Joel was a key member of the Executive Committee at MedinCell, where they served as the Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) and later as the Chief Development Officer. Joel also led technical and pharmaceutical operations during their time at MedinCell.

Previously, Joel held various leadership roles at Ipsen, including Senior Vice President and Head of CMC Development Dreux Site, Senior Vice President Pharmaceutical Development-Peptides-Head of Pharmaceutical Development Dreux, and Vice President positions in Peptides and Drug Product Development.

Before joining Ipsen, they worked at Merck Serono and Serono as the Director and Head of Pharmaceutical Development, focusing on biotech products and proteins. Earlier in their career, they held the position of Vice-President Research and R&D Director Europe at Ethypharm and served as the COO and co-founder of Mainelab S.A.

Joel Richard started their career as the General Manager at Centre de Microencapsulation. Their work experience showcases their expertise in pharmaceutical development, CMC development, clinical supply chain management, and leadership in the biopharmaceutical industry.

Joel Richard, PhD, HDR, completed their education in a variety of prestigious institutions. Joel began their academic journey at Lycée Blaise Pascal in Clermont-Fd, where they focused on "Classes Préparatoires aux Grandes Ecoles Scientifiques" from 1979 to 1981. Afterward, they pursued a Master's degree in Applied Physics and Materials Science at Paris-Sud University (Paris XI) from 1981 to 1983. Simultaneously, from 1981 to 1985, Joel attended Ecole Normale Supérieure - Cachan (Paris-Saclay), specializing in Physics with a focus on Applied Physics and Materials Science. Continuing their academic pursuits, they obtained a PhD in Materials Science with a specific focus on Colloid and Interface Science from University Paris VI between 1984 and 1987. Lastly, in 1994, they received their Habilitation à Diriger les Recherches in Chemistry from the University Bordeaux I. Joel Richard's diverse educational background provides a strong foundation in Physics, Chemistry, and Materials Science.
