Nabjot Sandhu

Customer Care Scientist-ivd at EntroGen

Nabjot Sandhu has a diverse work experience. From 2014 to 2020, they were a Graduate Student at the University of California, Riverside, where they engineered a novel organoid system to capture oral palate formation and fusion, evaluated the role of EPH receptors in early neural crest cell differentiation from human embryonic stem cells using a semi-high throughput drug screening method, utilized polymers to study effects of mechano-biology on cell differentiation from human embryonic stem cells, evaluated the significance of EPH receptors through avian embryo manipulation techniques, and translated research findings into 4 oral presentations and 3 poster presentations. From 2012 to 2020, they were an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of California, Merced, where they developed and optimized protocols for scaffold fabrication and cell sheet manipulation, used of biomaterials to fabricate nano and micro-wrinkle, used smooth muscle cells to validate the efficiency of the engineered cell sheets, evaluated samples using fluorescence, brightfield microscopy, in addition to fluorescence activated cell sorting (FACS) and magnetic-activated cell sorting (MACS), and translated work into 2 poster presentations and 1 co-authored publication. Nabjot was also a Student Assistant at the University of California, Merced, where they prepared materials and cultured bacteria for teaching labs and maintained laboratory equipment and utilized proper biohazardous waste management techniques. From 2020 to 2022, Nabjot Sandhu worked at Curative as an NGS Scientist and Associate Scientist, and at Fulgent Genetics as a BSL-2 Laboratory Technician, where they performed DNA extraction from various specimen types, specimen Triage, PCR, qPCR, Sanger Sequencing, and/or other molecular assays as needed, identified and assisted with problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results, and maintained open and honest communication with team members to promote a healthy and productive work environment for all. Finally, they are currently working at EntroGen, Inc. as a Customer Care Scientist, where they provide technical support for customers using EntroGen’s qPCR and NGS products, troubleshoots customer issues and data analysis/interpretation, and assists field service engineers and application specialists with the installation of new instruments.

Nabjot Sandhu received a B.S. in Bioengineering from the University of California, Merced in 2014, after studying there from 2009 to 2014. Nabjot then went on to pursue a PhD. in Bioengineering from the University of California, Riverside, which they completed in 2020.
