Tom Butler

Tom Butler has a diverse background in machine learning and research. Tom currently works as the VP of Machine Learning at Enveda Biosciences, where they lead machine learning for metabolomics research. Prior to this, they worked at Amazon as a Senior Machine Learning Scientist, leading the science for Alexa's web-based question answering systems. Before their time at Amazon, Tom was a Quantitative Researcher at Edgestream Partners LP and a Postdoctoral Researcher at MIT, where they applied statistical physics and machine learning to study the immune system, the brain, and HIV. Tom also worked as a Graduate Student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where they focused on stochastic processes and statistical mechanics.

Tom Butler obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Brigham Young University from 2001 to 2004. Tom later pursued a PhD in Physics at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from 2005 to 2010.
