The Role

We are recruiting for an Architecture Team Lead to drive our customer projects and manage the Architecture team within Consulting.

Role Summary

Reporting to the Head of Consulting, the Architecture Team Lead will perform a split role, where an average of 80% of the time will be working on customer projects, performing technical and business architecture activities translating business strategy into technical and operational enablement through the delivery of architectural artefacts, including but not limited to Enterprise, Business, Solution, Data and Infrastructure Blueprints and Designs.

In addition to the work on customer projects, an average of 20% of the time will be allocated to manage the architecture team where the Architecture team lead will be responsible for the discrete line management and development of several architecture team members, including the definition and creation of methods, accelerators and artefacts driving the consistency and innovation on client architecture engagements.

Success in the role will be measured by a continuous increase of the team satisfaction and an expansion of the sales pipeline and associated headcount growth, driven by the successful adoption of methods, accelerators and artefacts in conjunction with the wider consulting team, marketing and sales department.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Full Ownership of the Architecture projects for our clients

  • Orchestrate and coordinate the architecture engagements to meet discrete business and technical strategies, vision and business goals.
  • Derive and articulate value of the different architectural domains to transform client operations.
  • Lead the delivery of multi-disciplinary architecture projects involving multiple domains from enterprise, business, data, solutions and/or infrastructure architecture.
  • Establish operational organisations and governance capable of managing architectural and technical risk.
  • Develop backlogs for continuous modernization of large-scale platforms, coordinating with peers, seniors and client stakeholders.
  • Identify and manage architectural risk, from inception to obsolescence management.
  • Lead and contribute to pre-sales engagements in architecture domains.

Management of the Architecture Team

  • Maintain line management and mentoring responsibilities for several Architecture team members, measured through high engagement and satisfaction indicators.
  • Maintain regular touch base interactions with immediate line management, proactively and timely resolving any staff issues and or needs and support their career development.
  • Expand the consulting culture across the architecture team, driving a culture of cross and up-sell across the team as part of the client engagement and activities.
  • Develop a community of practice and establish cooperative ways of working, resulting in improved cross support between team members and an increase of success show case in external conferences.
  • Drive the creation of relevant frameworks, methods and accelerators (in conjunction with capability leads, marketing and sales team) resulting in a continued increase in efficiency of client architectural engagements and an expansion of architecture work pipeline and associated team headcount.
  • Manage team capacity and drive forward hiring and capacity plans with head of consulting.
  • Support sales and marketing initiatives by raising the profile of the Architecture team, its members and their associated experience.

Core Competencies

  • Industry Knowledge
    • Extensive knowledge of Envitia’s customer base with a deep understanding of the complexity and challenges they face.
    • Deep knowledge of secure and regulated environments, particularly Defence and Government departments.
  • Technical Expertise
    • Experience in setting strategies, visions and missions for clients.
    • Experience in managing architectural debt through the setting up of governance boards and KPIs.
    • Strong architectural delivery experience across multiple domains including enterprise, business, data, solutions, integration and infrastructure architecture.
    • Knowledge of different architectural frameworks including TOGAF, Zachman of DAMA – ideally possessing relevant certification.
    • Experience in one or more data modelling approach (RDBMS, NOSQL) & integration methods (REST, SOAP).
    • Large experience in at least one cloud provider (AWS / Azure / GCP).
    • Experience in technical delivery roles would be desirable.
