Uma Rajarathnam

Dr. Uma Rajarathnam heads the Applied Research and Collaboration Centre at Enzen. She is responsible for the technical direction and delivery of complex, multi-disciplinary projects in the areas of energy efficiency and renewable energy.

Uma has more than 25 years of experience across a range of roles including those of business leader, research coordinator for applied and policy research, project manager and mentor, all primarily in the areas of clean energy and environment.

She has worked on various assignments with international bodies such as the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, the World Health Organisation, the World Bank and the United States Environmental Protection Agency.

Her work on climate change was recognised as a contributing activity towards the UN International Panel for Climate Change, which won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007. She has been awarded the Fulbright Indo-American Environment Leadership Programme Fellowship and the Chevening Rolls-Royce Fellowship on Science, Innovation, Leadership and Policy.

As well as publishing more than 30 research papers in peer-reviewed journals and books, Uma holds a Master's degree in Environmental Science and a Doctorate from the Centre for Energy Studies at the Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi.

She is also an alumnus of the Stanford Graduate School of Business in the US and the Saïd Business School in Oxford, UK. Prior to joining Enzen, she worked with reputed institutes such as The Energy and Resource Institute and the National Environmental Engineering Research Institute.
