Hayes Thompson began their work experience as a Junior Copywriter at TMP Worldwide in 1997. Hayes gained clients such as Met Police, Barclays Life, and The Graduate Recruitment Company. In 2005, Thompson worked as a Copywriter at Bluefrog, where they successfully conducted fundraising direct mail campaigns for multiple charities and secured the agency's first non-charity client. Hayes then joined FST Marketing in 2006 as a Copywriter, where they contributed to a global rebranding exercise for Rentokil Tropical Plants, earning multiple awards and distinctions. In 2008, Thompson became a Copywriter at Alexander Mann Solutions, where they won the Best Student Marketing Campaign award for Deloitte at the 2009 Target Awards. Hayes also played a crucial role in securing a pitch win for Standard Chartered. In 2009, Thompson worked as a Freelance Copywriter at ULTRAMAGNETIC LTD, where they took on various projects, including a pitch win for The Crocodile and creating engaging email marketing content for Canteen. From 2013 to 2014, Thompson worked as a Senior Writer at Smartmatic, helping the company deliver high-quality written content to a global audience. Hayes then returned to ULTRAMAGNETIC LTD as a Freelance Copywriter from 2014 to 2017, working with Havas Work Club, The Crocodile, and C Space on various projects. In 2015, Thompson worked as a Freelance Digital Copywriter at Loyalive, gaining recognition and nominations for their work. From 2017 to 2021, Thompson served as a Group Copywriter at Proact IT Group AB, where they provided pan-European sales enablement copy and content to support managed cloud service launches. Currently, Thompson is the Copy Lead at EPAM Continuum, leading the copywriting efforts for the INEOS Automotive account, specializing in web copy, content, emails, reservation/order checkout flows, and online configurator.

Hayes Thompson has a diverse education history. In 2009, they attended the D&AD digital advertising workshop and received a degree named D&AD with a focus on Internet. Prior to that, from 1994 to 1996, they studied at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), earning an MSc in Social Psychology. Hayes also pursued their undergraduate studies at Queen Mary University of London from 1990 to 1993, where they obtained a BSc in Animal Physiology. Lastly, between 1985 and 1990, they attended St. Paul's School in Barnes, London, earning various 'A' and 'O' levels, GCSEs, and excelling in Science 'A's, along with a broad range of other subjects including art.
