Richard Robbins has a strong background in various roles within the legal and technology sectors. Richard began their career as a Software Engineer and Knowledge Engineer at Digital Equipment Corporation, specializing in artificial intelligence and rule-based expert systems. Richard then moved on to Sidley Austin LLP, where they worked as an Associate and later became a Partner, focusing on corporate and securities law, compliance, mergers and acquisitions, and technology implementation.

After their time at Sidley Austin LLP, Robbins joined Morningstar as the General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, overseeing legal, compliance, and corporate communications matters on a global scale. Richard then returned to Sidley Austin LLP as the Director of Knowledge Management, spearheading the firm's Knowledge Management program and implementing innovative technologies, including artificial intelligence tools and data integration.

Most recently, Robbins worked as a Senior Consultant at Fireman & Company, where they specialized in law firm data strategy, utilizing artificial intelligence and innovative technology solutions to enhance data-driven systems. Currently, they are serving as the Managing Director of Applied Artificial Intelligence at Epiq, further leveraging their expertise in AI and data science.

Richard Robbins obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1984. Richard continued their education at the same institution and received a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in 1985. Richard then pursued a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree at the University of Chicago Law School from 1988 to 1991. In more recent years, they attended the UC Berkeley School of Information, where they obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Data Science from 2021 to 2024. Additionally, Richard has earned several certifications, including Reproducible Research, Exploratory Data Analysis, Getting and Cleaning Data, R Programming, and The Data Scientist's Toolbox, all of which were obtained through Coursera Course Certificates in 2016.
