Alexandria Hughes is currently a Grants Associate at Equality California. Alexandria previously worked as a Fundraiser/ Cultural Enrichment Officer at LA ACADEMY OF ARTS & ENTERPRISE from September 2018 to June 2019, where they were responsible for developing and executing a fundraising and cultural enrichment strategy. Alexandria also consulted with students, teachers and staff to identify need, researched, designed programming and wrote foundation and government grant proposals, securing $400,000 in state funding and $200,000 in matching funding. In addition, they did outreach and collaboration with community partners, securing over 20 field trips at low- or no-cost, and establishing a student radio show and podcast interviewing community members working in the creative arts in Los Angeles. From September 2017 to June 2018, they worked as a Development Intern at Children's Bureau, where they wrote and proofread grant proposals, reports and letters of interest, contributing directly to 12 successful grant proposals, totaling over $150,000 in grant awards. Alexandria also did database management and maintenance in Raisers Edge. Prior to that, they were a Sociology Instructor at University of Leeds from September 2013 to January 2015.
Alexandria Hughes has a Master of Arts in Social Policy from the University of Leeds and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Social Policy from the University of Leeds.
