Al Cook

EVP, Global Strategy & Business Development at Equinor

Al Cook has over 25 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. Al began their career at BP in 1996, where they held various operations and leadership roles over the next 13 years. In 2009, they were promoted to Vice President of Shah Deniz Development, and they served in that role for the next five years. In 2014, they were promoted again, this time to Chief of Staff to the CEO. Al served in that role for two years before moving to Equinor in 2016.

At Equinor, Cook has held several senior positions. Al served as Senior Vice President of Development & Production International from 2016 to 2018 before being promoted to Executive Vice President of Global Strategy & Business Development, a position they have held since 2018.

Al Cook's educational career includes a MA Hons Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge and a degree from INSEAD.

Al Cook reports to Anders Opedal, President & CEO. They are on a team with Irene Rummelhoff - EVP Marketing, Midstream & Processing , Eldar Sætre - Executive Vice President, and Pål Eitrheim - EVP New Energy Solutions .
