Charles Runyan

Charles Runyan has over 20 years of work experience in the field of intellectual property law. Charles began their career in 1998 as a Patent Attorney, Trademark Attorney, Intellectual Property Attorney, and Domain Name Attorney at Gallagher & Kennedy. In 2000, they moved to ExxonMobil Chemical Company where they worked as an Attorney--Lawyer and Patent Attorney, providing counsel to technology groups regarding patent and trade secret issues and intellectual property asset management. From 2003 to 2005, they worked at Squire Sanders as a Lawyer, Patent Attorney, Intellectual Property Attorney, Trademark Attorney, and Domain Name Attorney. In this role, they actively managed patent portfolios for clients and advised them on patent strategies, as well as prepared invalidity and non-infringement opinions related to pharmaceutical compositions, surgical equipment, intravascular stents, and implantable polymer compositions. From 2005 to 2006, they worked as a Senior Counsel and Patent Attorney at Abbott Vascular, and from 2013 to 2018 they worked as a Division Staff Attorney at Becton Dickinson (CR Bard). In 2018, they started their own practice, Runyan Law, where they cover all facets of intellectual property law including patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret litigation and licensing, and internet and domain name law. Finally, in 2019 they joined Fusion Energy Solutions, Inc. as General Counsel, and in 2020 they joined Erthos, Inc. as Director of Intellectual Property.

Charles Runyan attended Arizona State University from 1984 to 1987, where they earned a B.S. in Chemistry. Charles then went on to Texas A&M University from 1988 to 1994, where they earned a Ph.D. in Chemistry. Charles then completed a Post-Doctoral at Princeton University in 1994. Finally, from 1995 to 1998, Charles Runyan attended the University of Arizona, James E. Rogers College of Law, where they earned a J.D. in Law.
