Thom Wetzer

Member Of The Standing Committee On Sustainable Finance at European Securities and Markets Authority

Thom Wetzer serves as Associate Professor of Law and Finance at the University of Oxford since September 2019 and is the Founding Director of the Oxford Sustainable Law Programme since January 2020. Wetzer is also a member of the Standing Committee on Sustainable Finance at the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) and part of the Leadership Team at the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment. As a Senior Research Fellow at The Institute for New Economic Thinking at the Oxford Martin School since September 2015, Wetzer also holds the position of Academic Co-Lead (Law) at Oxford Net Zero and leads research on the Oxford Martin Initiative on a Net Zero Recovery. Additional roles include serving as an Academic Consultant for the European Central Bank and a Visiting Researcher at the Yale School of Management's Program on Financial Stability. Wetzer has been a Global Shaper with the World Economic Forum since January 2014. Educational background includes multiple degrees from the University of Oxford and Utrecht University, as well as a Visiting Student role at the University of California, Berkeley.
