Security Engineer at ESO

Colin M has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Colin began their career in 2010 as the Participation & Coach Development Manager at Netball Northern Ireland, where they designed and implemented strategic plans for netball participation and coaching. Colin also managed a coach education workforce and established a network of qualified coaches. From 2012 to 2019, Colin worked as a Coach Education Tutor & Assessor at Hockey Ireland, where they continued to train and assess coaches. Colin also held the role of Coach & Club Development Manager at Ulster Hockey from 2013 to 2015.

In 2019, Colin embarked on a career shift and pursued studies in Cyber Security. Colin enrolled in the Neueda Novosco Cyber Security Academy at Belfast Metropolitan College, where they gained qualifications in network fundamentals, network security, Linux essentials, and more. Colin also studied Python and C#.

Colin then worked as a Cyber Security Analyst at Novosco from 2019 to 2021, where they analyzed and improved cyber security systems. Colin later joined Factor as a Cyber Security Associate in 2021 and continued in that role until 2023.

Alongside their studies and cyber security roles, Colin started their own business called Content Kings Media in 2018. As the owner, they specialized in SEO services and managed various websites in the sport, leisure, and tourism sectors. Colin successfully increased traffic and visibility for clients in different industries.

Colin also made contributions to the field of cricket. From 2011 to 2020, they served as a Coach Education Tutor & Assessor at Cricket Ireland, organizing training and learning opportunities for coaches and volunteers. Colin also held the position of Active Clubs Coordinator from 2015 to 2018, where they developed and implemented sustainable participation initiatives for cricket clubs.

Currently, Colin is working as a Security Engineer at ESO, a position they started in December 2022.

Colin M's education history begins with their enrollment at Stirling High School from 1994 to 1999. After completing high school, they attended Bournemouth University from 2006 to 2009, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in Sports Development & Coaching Sciences. In 2009, they continued their education at the University of Stirling and received a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Tertiary Education with Teacher Qualification in 2010.

In terms of certifications, Colin has obtained several Microsoft certifications, including Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals, Microsoft Certified: Security Operations Analyst Associate, Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Fundamentals, and Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals. Colin also holds certifications from Cisco Networking Academy, such as Cisco Certified Network Associate Cyber Ops (CCNA), NDG Linux Essentials, Cisco Cyber Security Essentials, and Microsoft certifications, including MTA: Introduction to Programming Using Python - Certified 2019 and Microsoft Technology Associate certifications in Networking Fundamentals, Security Fundamentals, and Software Development Fundamentals. Additionally, they have certifications in ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation and PRINCE2® Foundation Certificate from BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT.

Furthermore, Colin has a Certificate in Tutoring Sport from 1st4sport Qualifications and a UKCC Level 3 Workforce Mentoring certification. Overall, Colin M has a diverse educational background with a focus on sports development, coaching sciences, tertiary education, teacher qualification, and various certifications in cybersecurity and software development.
