Jaianth Vijayakumar is a Beamline Scientist at ESRF - The European Synchrotron since October 2023, specializing in hierarchical phase contrast tomography. Previously, Jaianth served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Ghent University from July 2020 to October 2023, focusing on applications of X-ray tomography in pharmaceutical science within an industrial project funded by Janssen Pharmaceuticals. Prior experience includes a role as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Synchrotron SOLEIL, where responsibilities involved developing ptychography endstations and data analysis for image processing and reconstruction. Jaianth's earlier academic background includes a PhD in Experimental Physics from the University of Basel and a Master's Degree in Engineering Physics and Mathematics from Aalto University, as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Physics from the University of Madras. Other project involvements include X-ray photoemission electron microscopy and scanning transmission X-ray microscopy, supporting various experiments on magnetic materials, biological samples, liquid samples, and polymers.
