Dimitrios Bessas

Beamline Scientist at ESRF - The European Synchrotron

Dimitrios Bessas is a beamline scientist at ESRF - The European Synchrotron since July 2017, with prior experience as a research assistant at the Technical University of Delft focusing on energy materials and magnetocalorics from September 2016 to July 2017. Dimitrios served as a postdoctoral researcher at the ESRF - European Radiation Synchrotron Facility from November 2012 to 2016, specializing in nuclear resonance at beamline ID18. The academic journey includes a Ph.D. from Universite de Liege (2009-2012) centered on thermoelectrics and energy materials, a Master's degree from National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in magnetoresistance and perovskites (2005-2007), and a Diploma in Physics focusing on micro electromechanical systems from the same institution (2001-2005). Additional experiences include internships in dilatometry at the University of Montana and resonant ultrasound spectroscopy at the National Center of Physical Acoustics, as well as service as a mechanics corporal in the Greek Military Forces from February 2008 to February 2009.
