Nan Hyung Hong

Nan Hyung Hong has a diverse work experience that spans over several years. They began their career as a Graduate student at Gwangju Institute of Science & Technology from January 2005 to December 2006. They then worked as a Research Assistant at Seoul National University Hospital in 2007.

In 2008, Nan Hyung Hong joined Vanderbilt University as a Research Assistant until June 2009. During this time, they also pursued their Ph.D. in Cancer Biology under the guidance of Alissa M. Weaver, M.D. The Ph.D. program lasted from August 2009 to May 2015.

Following their Ph.D., Nan Hyung Hong continued their research at Vanderbilt University as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow from June 2015 to May 2016. During this period, they contributed to the discovery of key molecular mechanisms regulating exosome secretion and cargo sorting.

In June 2016, Nan Hyung Hong joined Fred Hutch as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, where they investigated the molecular regulatory mechanism of metabolic reprogramming in pancreatic cancer, focusing on cellular stress response and BCAA catabolism. Their tenure at Fred Hutch lasted until September 2019.

From October 2019 onwards, Nan Hyung Hong has been working at ESSA Pharma. They started as a Scientist and later progressed to the role of Scientist II. Currently, they hold the position of Senior Scientist at the company, beginning in October 2022.

Additionally, Nan Hyung Hong had the opportunity to participate in the Physiology course at the Marine Biological Laboratory in the summer of 2014.

Nan Hyung Hong has a strong educational background in the field of biology and cancer research. Nan Hyung began their academic journey in 2001 at Sogang University, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biology/Biological Sciences in 2004.

Following this, from 2005 to 2007, they pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Cell Biology at the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology. Building on their previous academic achievements, Nan Hyung Hong furthered their education by earning a PhD in Cancer Biology from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. This program spanned from 2009 to 2015.

In addition to their formal education, Nan Hyung Hong also holds a certification in "Programming for Everybody (Getting Started with Python)" from Coursera Course Certificates. Nan Hyung obtained this certification in October 2018.
