Wolfgang Sienel

Wolfgang Sienel has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Wolfgang started their career as a Research Assistant at the University of California, Irvine in 1989. Wolfgang then worked as a Research Engineer at DLR, where they focused on robust control and its application to vehicle dynamics. During their time at DLR, they also served as a technical project manager for a joint project with BMW on active front-wheel steering.

In 1997, Sienel joined ETAS, where they held various positions over the years. Wolfgang started as a System Engineer, taking full project responsibility for hardware-in-the-loop test systems for automotive control units. Wolfgang then progressed to become a Director, where they contributed to making ETAS the leading supplier of high-end hardware-in-the-loop test systems in Japan and Korea.

Sienel continued to climb the corporate ladder at ETAS, becoming the Managing Director and later the President and Representative Director. In these roles, they played a crucial part in establishing ETAS as a competent and respected partner in the Japanese automotive industry. Wolfgang achieved high sales growth rates, restructured the organization, and built a strong and strategic team.

Following their successful tenure at ETAS, Sienel served as the Vice President Sales Asia-Pacific, where they focused on strengthening the strategic orientation of the regional sales organization and driving expansion in new growth areas. Wolfgang also held the position of Vice President Sales Cyber Security Solutions, where they developed and offered holistic security solutions for the Internet of Things (IoT) domains.

In their most recent role at ETAS, Sienel served as the Vice President Strategic Sales, overseeing strategic sales operations within the company.

Wolfgang Sienel has a strong educational background in electrical engineering and information technology. Wolfgang obtained a Dr.-Ing. degree in Robust Control from the Technical University of Munich in 1994 after completing their Dipl.-Ing. degree in Control Systems from the same university in 1989. Prior to their university education, Sienel completed their Abitur (High school diploma) with a focus on Mathematics and Physics at Aventinus-Gymnasium Burghausen in 1984.
