Ethical Culture Fieldston School
Ellen Totten is an experienced educator currently serving as the Head Kindergarten Teacher at The Langley School since August 2020, after a decade of teaching in New York City. Ellen has additionally worked as the Kindergarten Head Teacher at Ethical Culture Fieldston School and as the Preschool Head Teacher at The Mandell School, where extensive experience with children aged 3-6 years was gained over an eight-year tenure. Ellen briefly held a position as a Second Grade Associate Teacher at St. Bernard's School and has a background in sales from a role at Patagonia. Educational qualifications include a Dual Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education and Special Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences from Ohio Wesleyan University.

For over 130 years the Ethical Culture Fieldston School has been committed to excellence in education as it seeks to develop the intellectual, artistic and moral potential of its students. ECFS serves approximately 1,700 students and 325 faculty and staff in four divisions; Ethical Culture, Fieldston Lower, Fieldston Middle, and Fieldston Upper. Ethical Culture is located in midtown Manhattan on Central Park West, in a six-story, turn-of-the-century school building; the other divisions share an 18-acre campus in the Riverdale section of the Bronx.
