Elaine van Ommen Kloeke is a seasoned program manager at Naturalis Biodiversity Center, overseeing the ARISE program, which focuses on cataloging multicellular flora and fauna in the Netherlands using eDNA and machine learning. As the founder and board member of the Dutch Foundation Shinkage ryu, Elaine is involved in preserving traditional Japanese swordsmanship, specifically iaido. Previous roles at Elsevier include lead product manager, senior product manager, and product manager, where Elaine managed various data science-based platform products and academic journals. Additionally, Elaine served as a PhD researcher at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, studying the impact of GM crops on soil ecosystems, and contributed to the GoTogo non-profit organization, aimed at fostering self-reliance in Togo. With a solid academic background in ecology, Elaine holds a PhD and two master's degrees from Dutch universities.
