Frederic Lens

Group Leader Functional Traits at Naturalis Biodiversity Center

Frederic Lens is an accomplished biologist with a focus on evolutionary plant anatomy and the environmental and genetic factors influencing woodiness and drought tolerance in plants. Currently serving as an Associate Professor at the Institute of Biology Leiden since January 2022, Frederic Lens has also held the position of Group Leader for Functional Traits and Senior Researcher at Naturalis Biodiversity Center since June 2014. Previously, Frederic Lens worked as an Assistant Professor at Leiden University from February 2021 to January 2022. Frederic Lens earned a PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from KU Leuven from 2000 to 2005, following a Master's degree in Plant Sciences from the same institution between 1995 and 1999.
