Malith Gunasekara has over 20 years of experience in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector. Malith began their career in 1993 as a Business Manager at Electronic Data Systems Pte Ltd in Singapore. In 1994, they moved to Sri Lanka to become the Marketing Director of EDS Lanka Limited. In 1995, they established Corporate I.T. Resources Limited and served as the Managing Director and Independent ICT Consultant. In 2010, they joined ShoreBank International Ltd in the US as Lead - Technology Group and Lead IT Advisor - Technology. In 2012, they were appointed Chief of Party for the USAID e-MITRA Mobile Money Implementation Unit in Indonesia. In 2014, they co-founded eTreat Medical Diagnostics Inc. and served as Director - Technology & Marketing Strategist. In 2018, they joined Deloitte India as Advisor - Consulting and was responsible for setting up the Consulting practice in Sri Lanka. In 2020, they joined Deloitte Consulting as Digital/ICT Specialist and has since held the roles of Deputy Chief of Party, Acting Chief of Party, and Senior Advisor before becoming the current Chief of Party of the USAID PARTNER project.
Malith Gunasekara attended the National Institute of Business Management from 1981 to 1983, where they studied System Design. Malith then obtained a Certified Chartered Information Technology Practitioner (CITP) from the British Computer Society in the UK. In 2003, they became a Chartered Information Technology Practitioner.
