NTI Fellows

Contract · CT, United States

Job description

NTI Fellow

The NTI Fellows support the daily operations of the National Theater Institute Semester Programs. The position responsibilities include coordinating hospitality and class materials for faculty and staff, driving faculty and students, assisting with casting, scene assignments, and all coordination for weekly Sharing of the Work, overseeing student needs, and assisting with implementing weekly class schedules.

Fellows work five days/week (2 days off a week - when students are on campus, days off may not be consecutive) and share "on-call" duties for the O’Neill campus and specifically for the needs of the National Theater Institute. These include driving responsibilities, attendance at special events, and being on call response in case of emergencies. On-call shifts would be a part of the fellows usual work day, one fellow per shift being responsible for sharing on-call duties with company management and NTI Staff. A private security team will relieve NTI Fellows of overnight on-call duties.

NTI Fellows work to support the needs of students and faculty while working with the NTI’s Artistic Director, Program Manager, and the O’Neill’s production team and company management team.

NTI Fellows will also work as assistants for the Young Playwrights Festival which takes place the weekend after the spring semester ends.

Ideal candidates will have a passion for new work, arts education and arts management, and will be organized, creative, efficient team players. Applicants must be proficient in Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, and feel confident in their ability to make decisions and work in a fast-paced environment.

We offer our Fellows:

Housing and meals, $200 weekly stipend, the opportunity to take one class, and an invaluable opportunity to work with professional theater artists from around the globe. Fellows have the opportunity to attend all regional and NYC shows that students attend, and will accompany students and staff on an eight day residency in New York City. Fellows have the ability to build relationships with NTI faculty, who are working artists in the American Theater. There will also be professional development opportunities for Fellows.

Requirements:

Ideal candidates love theater, love encouraging emerging artists, and are strong collaborators with good communication skills. We ask that you have the ability to skillfully handle sensitive material, multitask, and are proficient with Google Suite, Microsoft Excel, and Word. A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are required and can be a large portion of the position when relevant.

NTI alumni who have completed the program within the past four years are strongly encouraged to apply. Please include your NTI program, semester, & year in your cover letter.
