Ad Stoffelen

EPS Second Generation Expert Group at EUMETSAT

Ad Stoffelen has a extensive work experience in the field of satellite wind measurements and atmospheric sciences. Ad has worked at KNMI as a Satellite Winds Group Leader and as a Senior Scientist, where they focused on satellite wind measurements using instruments like ESA's Aeolus, Scatterometer (ASCAT, QuikScat), and others. Ad has also held positions at organizations like IEEE, Atmospheric Measurement Techniques, IOVWST, EUMETSAT, ESA, NASA, and ECMWF, where they served in various roles such as Senior Member, Editor, Co-organizer, EPS Second Generation Expert Group member, Manager for NWP SAF and OSI SAF satellite scatterometer winds, and Scientist. Ad Stoffelen has a strong background in atmospheric sciences and has made significant contributions to the field.

Ad Stoffelen received a degree in Physics (Ir) from Eindhoven University of Technology, where they studied from 1980 to 1987. In 1998, they obtained a Doctorate (Dr) in Meteorology from Utrecht University.
