Alessio Canestri

Eps-sterna Preparatory Phase Project Manager at EUMETSAT

Alessio Canestri has a diverse work experience in various roles and companies. Alessio started their career as a Researcher at Università La Sapienza in 2004. Alessio then worked as a System Engineer at Alcatel Alenia Space before transitioning to TERMA in 2005. At TERMA, they served as a Junior Project Manager and Project Engineer, where they were involved in the development and management of corporate software applications and conducted feasibilities studies for earth observation and space exploration. In 2008, Alessio joined AKKA as a Project Manager, where they led and coordinated avionics tests for satellite functionality on telecommunication satellites. Since 2011, they have been working at EUMETSAT, initially as a Management Support for LEO Instrument Team and later as an Instrument Team Leader and Instrument Systems Manager. Currently, they are serving as the EPS-Sterna Preparatory Phase Project Manager.

Alessio Canestri has a background in both business and aerospace engineering. In 1997, they attended Sapienza Università di Roma, where they pursued a Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering. Alessio completed this program in 2003. In 2011, they briefly attended INSEAD, where they completed the Management Acceleration Programme, focusing on Business.
