Marcos García Chillón

Information Security Engineering Team Leader at EUMETSAT

Marcos García Chillón has a diverse work experience in the field of information security engineering and consulting. Marcos started their career as an IT Security Consultant at GMV in 2008 and worked there until 2011. From 2011 to 2017, they served as an IT Security Engineer at the European Space Agency, where they implemented ISMS and ISO27001 certification, conducted risk assessments, and implemented security controls. Since 2018, Marcos has been working at EUMETSAT, initially as an Information Security Engineer and currently as the Information Security Engineering Team Leader.

Marcos García Chillón attended the Universitat de les Illes Balears from 2001 to 2005, where they obtained a degree in Technical Engineering with a field of study in Telematics. Following that, from 2005 to 2008, they pursued an Engineering degree in Telecommunication at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya.

In addition to their educational background, they have multiple certifications. In 2009, they obtained the GIAC Certified Forensic Analyst certification from GIAC, as well as the GIAC Advisory Board membership. In 2011, they achieved the GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC). In 2012, they became an ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Auditor through BSI. In 2013, they earned the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification from (ISC)². In 2014, they became a Certified Ethical Hacker through EC-Council. In 2015, they obtained a certification in Cloud Computing Applications from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In 2016, they obtained the Certified Incident Handler certification from EC-Council and the PMI-Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) certification from the Project Management Institute.
