Francesco Loiacono is a Principal Economist at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) since September 2023. Prior to this role, Francesco served as a PhD candidate at the Institute for International Economic Studies (Stockholm University) from August 2016 to September 2023, and was a Visiting PhD Student at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business from September 2019 to March 2020. Previous experience includes a Research Assistant position at BRAC, where Francesco focused on impact evaluation studies in Uganda, and a role at Università Commerciale 'Luigi Bocconi' that involved research on educational effects in Turkey. Francesco also worked as a Short Term Consultant for The World Bank on an impact evaluation of an MTV drama series, and completed an internship at UNCTAD researching investment policy in developing countries. Francesco holds a PhD in Economics from Stockholm University and Master's and Bachelor's degrees in Economics and Social Sciences from Università Bocconi.
