Anders B. Sorensen

Director, Research and Discovery at Evaxion Biotech

Anders B. Sorensen has over 10 years of work experience in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry. From 2018 to present, they have served as Director of Research and Discovery, Project Manager of Personalized Immuno-Oncology, and Senior Associate of Operations at Evaxion Biotech A/S. From 2017 to 2018, they were the Protein Science Manager at CHRETO Aps, where they were responsible for the development of assays and functional studies to evaluate a lead candidate for novel purification technologies within protein based therapeutics. From 2016 to 2017, they were the CMC Developer at Hejnaes Consult AB, where they established and implemented a new project management platform and was responsible for cash-flow analysis, day-to-day real time expense monitoring, and monthly status report generation. In 2017, they were a Business Development Intern at Evaxion Biotech as part of their thesis work at Copenhagen Business School. From 2013 to 2016, they were a STAR Industrial PhD at Novo Nordisk A/S, where they worked with coagulation serine proteases design, expression, functional characterization, and structural studies. From 2011 to 2012, they were a Research Assistant at Aalborg University and CaMAgon Aps, where they worked with biophysical and chemical characterization of novel protein variants causing heart disease. Anders also published one review paper and one original scientific paper in the FEBS Journal. During 2012, they were a Novo Science Ambassador at Novo Nordisk, where they gave lectures to high school and gymnasium students on molecular biology and protein chemistry. From 2009 to 2011, they were a Research Trainee at CSIRO, where they worked on three different projects centering around self-assembly nano-scale systems for application in vitro and in vivo stem cell proliferation. Anders also co-authored two papers in Biomaterials and Australian Journal of Chemistry.

Anders B. Sorensen obtained a B.Sc. in Biotechnology from Aalborg University in 2007-2009. Anders then completed an Elite Master of Science (eM.Sc.) in Medical Biotechnology from Aalborg University in 2010-2012. Anders went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Protein Chemistry and Structural Biology from Aalborg University in 2013-2016. Finally, they attained a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Business Administration and Bioentrepreneurship from Copenhagen Business School in 2016-2017.
