Senior Principal Data Engineer at Eventbrite

Robert Goretsky has a diverse work experience in the field of data engineering. Robert started their career at Lehman Brothers as a Developer, where they designed and implemented interfaces between financial systems. Robert also maintained and supported the Linux server infrastructure for the PeopleSoft Financials system.

Goretsky then moved on to Major League Baseball (MLB), where they held various roles over a span of 16 years. Robert started as an ETL Engineer, building data pipelines and working on the dimensional data model for MLB's first fan data warehouse. Robert later became a Data Warehouse Architect, integrating transaction and customer data from multiple sources into the fan data warehouse. Robert also expanded the scope of the Data Warehouse and led team growth in their role as Director of Data Engineering.

In their most recent role at MLB as the VP of Data Engineering, Goretsky led the Fan Data organization. Robert managed multiple teams responsible for developing and maintaining data pipelines, building data products, and providing dashboards and reporting to the entire company. Robert collaborated with various data stakeholders and teams, including Product, Marketing, Finance, Analytics, and all 30 MLB Clubs. Robert also led the development of a modern data distribution architecture and the migration to the Apache Airflow framework.

Goretsky currently works at Eventbrite as the first Principal Data Engineer. In this role, they provide technical leadership to five teams within the Data organization, consisting of approximately 45 individuals. Robert works closely with engineering, product, and business stakeholder teams to leverage Eventbrite's data.

Robert Goretsky earned an Honors Bachelor of Science degree, Summa Cum Laude, in Computer Science from the University of Delaware. Robert completed their studies at the University of Delaware from 1999 to 2003.
