Tom Hessburg

Tom Hessburg has a diverse work experience spanning over a decade. Tom started off their career as a Welder/Fitter at Pittsburg Tank & Tower Group, where they constructed industrial tanks and traveled frequently to different locations. Tom then moved on to Fender Marine Construction, where they worked as a Welder/Fitter and Welder/Fabricator. During their time there, they played a crucial role in planning and constructing an important feature for Disney World Orlando, meeting strict deadlines and inspections.

In 2018, Tom worked as a Welder/Boilermaker at DanCar Group and as a Welder/Fabricator at Metro Steel & Pipe Supply, Inc. In both positions, they demonstrated their welding expertise and contributed to various projects.

In 2019, Tom took on a leadership role as a Team Lead at Lambda School, where they honed their skills in managing and mentoring a team.

Tom's entrepreneurial spirit led him to co-found SkillSpace in 2021, where they served as a Software Engineer. Tom was involved in all aspects of the startup, from planning and designing to building and launching an MVP within a short timeframe. SkillSpace achieved significant growth, acquiring thousands of users, creating connections, and unlocking economic opportunities for its users.

Tom's software engineering career continued at Wayfair in 2020, where they joined the bidding & attribution team. Tom worked on developing ad tech tools, including a suite of tools used by marketing analysts to improve efficiency in advertising spending. Their tech stack included React, Java, Dropwizard, Python, Vertica, Hive, MSSQL, and Presto.

As a freelance Software Engineer, Tom planned and built a custom project management solution for a large construction company, saving them significant time and simplifying their core business functions.

Tom's diverse career also includes their musical pursuits as a Music Producer/Audio Engineer. Tom engineered, mixed, mastered, and released over 100 songs, accumulating millions of plays across streaming platforms.

Currently, Tom holds the position of Software Engineer at Eventbrite, where they started as a Software Engineer II in 2022 and has progressed to the role of Senior Software Engineer in 2023.

Tom Hessburg attended BloomTech in 2019, where they studied computer software engineering. In 2016 and 2017, they pursued an audio engineering diploma at ICON Collective. Prior to that, in 2014, Tom attended Tulsa Welding School-Jacksonville Campus and earned a degree as a pipe welder in the field of welding technology/welder.
