Yajaira Varillas Perez has worked in the optical engineering and quality control field since 2019. In 2019, they began their career as an Optical Production Intern at ASML, where they worked with optical production engineers in new product production under the Yield Star Module. Yajaira was responsible for writing and editing assembly and building procedures for new products, as well as analyzing factory/material data and determining if overlapping fiber cables produced interference on an image essential for imaging applications on the sensor. In 2020, they moved to LightPath Technologies, where they worked as a Lens Cleaning Technician and Coating Technician. In 2021, they began working at Everix Optical Filters as an Optical Engineer and Quality Control Manager, as well as an Optical QA Intern.

Yajaira Varillas Perez has a Bachelor of Science in Photonic Science and Engineering from the University of Central Florida, which they obtained between 2017 and 2021. Prior to that, they obtained an Associate of Arts in Engineering from Santa Fe College between 2013 and 2017. In November 2022, they will complete a Data Analytics and Visualization Coding Bootcamp from the University of Central Florida. Additionally, they have obtained certifications in Forks Over Knives Plant-Based Certification from Rouxbe Online Culinary School in April 2021, C++ from Programming Hub in December 2020, and MATLAB from Programming Hub in July 2020.
