Country Director, Malawi at Evidence Action

Benson Botha is the current Country Director for Malawi at Evidence Action. Benson Botha has over 18 years of experience in the field of HIV and AIDS, grants management, capacity building, resource mobilization, technical support, partnership management, and monitoring and evaluation of programs and projects.

Previously, Benson Botha was the Director / Head of Programs at the Malawi AIDS Counseling and Resource Organization (MACRO) from July 2018 to September 2021. In this role, they were responsible for the management of all MACRO programs, budget and human resource management, provision of technical assistance to all program staff, resource mobilization, and donor and partner management.

Before MACRO, Benson Botha worked at the National AIDS Commission - Malawi (NAC) from March 2007 to August 2018 as a Grants Officer. In this role, they were responsible for grants management, capacity building of partners in project management, procurement, financial management and M&E, resource mobilization, technical support to partners, partnership management, and monitoring and evaluation of programs / projects.

Prior to NAC, Benson Botha served as the National HIV and AIDS Program Coordinator at the Evangelical Association of Malawi (EAM) from March 2003 to March 2007.

Benson Botha has a Masters in Public Health from the University of Malawi - College of Medicine, a Diploma in Public Health from the University of Malawi, and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health from the University of Malawi - Polytechnic.
