Katy Vonk has a diverse work experience in the field of security engineering. Katy is currently employed at GuidePoint Security as a Security Engineer, starting in 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Evolve Security as a Security Engineer & Team Lead, where they conducted penetration assessments and developed testing methodologies. Katy also led the Application Security team and managed the team's knowledge base. Katy started their career at Evolve Security Academy, first as an Assistant Instructor and then as a Cyber Security Analyst and Project Lead for a non-profit vulnerability assessment project. Their responsibilities included conducting vulnerability assessments and practicing various security tools and methodologies. Before transitioning to the security field, Katy worked as the Manager of Library Operations and Assets at Midway Contemporary Art from 2013 to 2019.
Katy Vonk, OSCP, has an education history that includes a variety of qualifications and certifications in the field of cybersecurity. In 2019, they attended Evolve Security Academy and obtained an Evolve Security Certified Professional (ESCP) degree in cybersecurity.
Prior to that, Katy attended the Minneapolis College of Art and Design from 2008 to 2011, where they earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree with a focus on Fine Art Studio (Interdisciplinary).
Before pursuing higher education, they attended Illinois Central College from 2005 to 2007 and received an Associate of Arts and Sciences (AAS) degree.
In addition to their educational background, Katy has obtained several certifications to further their expertise in the cybersecurity field. These include the Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP) certification from Offensive Security in May 2021, the Practical Web Application Penetration Testing (PWAPT) Certificate of Completion from Tim Tomes in October 2020, and the Evolve Security Certified Penetration Tester (ESCPT) certification from Evolve Security Academy in December 2019.
Katy also holds a CompTIA Security+ ce Certification from CompTIA, which was obtained in August 2020. Furthermore, they are currently pursuing the Certified Red Team Professional (CRTP) certification from Altered Security, with an expected completion date in June 2023.
