Julien Welzel

Head of Computational (in silico) Modeling and Simulation at ExactCure

Julien Welzel has held several positions throughout their career. From 2018 to present, they have been the Head of Computational (in silico) Modeling and Simulation and Responsable technique R&D - ingénieur de recherche at ExactCure. From 2008 to 2018, they were a FO Quant Analyst / Developer (Interest-rate Derivatives) and Market Risk Analyst (Interest-rate Derivatives) at ING Belgium. From 2006 to 2008, they were a Post-doc (Theoretical physics) at Paris-Sud University (Paris XI), where they conducted research and published in the field of neutrino astrophysics (supernovae, nucleosynthesis, relic) and taught advanced optics.

Julien Welzel's education history consists of a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Physics from the University of Lille 1 Sciences and Technology from 2000 to 2002, a Bachelor's Degree in Physics from Université catholique de Lille from 1998 to 2000, a Master's Degree in Physics from Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 from 2002 to 2003, a Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics from Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 from 2003 to 2006, and an internship in Theoretical Physics from FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg in 2002. In addition, Julien obtained five certifications from Coursera in September 2019: Convolutional Neural Networks, Improving Deep Neural Networks: Hyperparameter tuning, Regularization and Optimization, Neural Networks and Deep Learning, Sequence Models, and Structuring Machine Learning Projects.
