Antonio Menéndez Rodríguez, PMP has extensive work experience in supply chain management and project management. Antonio started their career in 1994 as a Junior Industrial Engineer at Merck, where they developed and executed validation processes and conducted SPC analysis for packaging operations. Antonio then worked their way up to become a Production Supervisor, responsible for overseeing manufacturing and packaging operations.
In 1997, Menéndez Rodríguez transitioned to a Staff Production Planner role at Merck, where they led production scheduling, supported new product launches, and represented the site at global planning meetings. Antonio later took on the role of Regional Planning Analyst, where they coordinated production planning for multiple facilities and supported product launches and deletions.
In 2003, Menéndez Rodríguez became the Production Planning Manager at Merck, where they led a sub-team responsible for warehouse and materials management. Antonio facilitated the redesign of materials flow and redefined planning business processes to support lean manufacturing implementation.
In 2005, Menéndez Rodríguez became a Production Manager, overseeing the end-to-end operation of a solid dosage manufacturing and packaging process. Antonio coached and mentored four supervisors and ensured compliance with standards and regulations.
In 2007, Menéndez Rodríguez took on the role of Supply Chain Project Manager (SAP) at Merck, where they were responsible for implementing SAP systems at production sites and ensuring alignment with order-to-cash and financial business management teams.
In 2010, Menéndez Rodríguez became an Associate Director for Supply Chain Network Rationalization at Merck, where they led cross-divisional restructuring plans in Latin America. Antonio developed regional network strategies and project plans for site decommissioning and tech transfer activities.
In 2012, Menéndez Rodríguez was promoted to Director Strategic Alliances, Emerging Markets Latin America at Merck, where they led the strategic alliance process for the region and provided manufacturing and supply chain leadership. Antonio developed the LATAM Localization Strategy and streamlined the external network of contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs).
In 2015, Menéndez Rodríguez joined Genentech as the Product Supply Chain Owner for Biologics. Antonio led activities with demand and supply chain planners to ensure a reliable supply of products to patients. Antonio successfully implemented an end-to-end lead time reduction project, resulting in a 27% reduction in lead time.
In 2018, Menéndez Rodríguez joined Aimmune Therapeutics as the Senior Director of Commercial Supply Chain, where they continued to oversee supply chain operations.
In 2020, Menéndez Rodríguez joined Exelixis as the Executive Director of Commercial Supply Chain. Antonio recently transitioned to the role of Vice President, leading the commercial supply chain operations.
Throughout their career, Menéndez Rodríguez has demonstrated strong leadership skills and a track record of successfully implementing process improvements and delivering results in supply chain management.
Antonio Menéndez Rodríguez, PMP, has a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering from UPR - Mayaguez Campus, which they obtained from 1988 to 1994. Antonio also holds a Master's degree in Engineering Management from the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico, which they obtained from 2005 to 2007. In addition, they are a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute, which they obtained in June 2011.
