Paige Mahaney

Paige Mahaney has a strong background in drug discovery research and leadership positions in pharmaceutical companies. Paige currently holds the role of SVP and Head of Drug Discovery Research at Exelixis since June 2021. Prior to that, they served as a Scientific Advisory Board Member at Eurofins Discovery starting from May 2022.

Paige'sprevious experience includes significant roles at Boehringer Ingelheim, where they held positions such as SVP and Discovery Research Site Head, US; Global Head of Biotherapeutics Discovery Research from December 2016 to June 2021. Paige was responsible for leading a global team and overseeing the discovery, optimization, and characterization of protein therapeutics across various disease areas. Paige also held the position of Discovery Research Site Head, US and Head of Small Molecule Discovery Research, US from April 2015 to December 2016, where they were accountable for the overall productivity of the US Research organization and led the research strategy in the areas of Cardiometabolic Diseases and Inflammation & Respiratory Discovery Research.

Earlier in their career, they worked at Wyeth as a Principal Research Scientist/Group Leader from July 2002 to June 2009, where they led successful projects in the areas of CNS and Metabolic Diseases. Paige also contributed to optimizing the drug discovery process and training new team leaders.

Paige began their career at Hoffmann-La Roche as a Principal Scientist/Senior Principal Scientist from October 1995 to June 2002. During their time there, they played a key role in Roche's efforts to identify allosteric activators of glucokinase and optimize the drug discovery process.

In addition to their industry experience, they have also served as Chair and Chair-Elect of the Division of Organic Chemistry of the American Chemical Society in 2016 and 2015, respectively.

Overall, Paige Mahaney has extensive experience in drug discovery research, leadership, and strategic planning within the pharmaceutical industry.

Paige Mahaney completed their undergraduate studies at Guilford College from 1987 to 1991, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Biology, and Physics. Paige then pursued their Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 1991 to 1995.
