Arturo Sampson

Head of Production at Exile Content Studio

Arturo Sampson is the head of production at EXILE, a media company dedicated to acquiring and developing premium original content for audiences across the U.S. and Latin America.

Sampson is based in Mexico and oversees scripted and unscripted projects for Mexico, Spain, the United States, and Colombia. Prior to joining EXILE in 2020, Sampson worked at a variety of film and commercial production companies, including Canana, where he became a partner in 2011, and sister company Gloria, where he became a partner in 2014.

Sampson’s prior credits as producer include such feature films as Catherine Hardwicke’s Miss Bala, Werner Herzog’s Salt & Fire, David Pablos’ The Dance of the 41 and The Chosen Ones, Diego Luna’s Mr. Pig and Chavez, Gerardo Naranjo’s I´m Gonna Explode, Jonás Cuarón’s Aningaaq (short film for Gravity), Michael Rowe’s The Well, Revolución (segments by Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal), Laura Amelia Guzmán and Israel Cárdenas’ Cochochi, Gael García Bernal’s Déficit , Mariana Chenillo’s Paradise and Humberto Hinojosa’s Black Sheep, Paraiso Perdido, I Hate Love and Camino a Marte (as an associate/consulting producer).

His fictional and unscripted TV series credits as producer include Luis Miguel The Series S1 and S2 (MGM/Netlfix), The Taco Chrónicles S1 and S2 (Netflix), Fear The Walking Dead (S2) (AMC), Niño Santo (Holy Child) S1 and S2, Alguien Más and I’m Your Fan (Soy tu fan), as well as other TV shows and branded content pieces, including HBO´s Insecure (as production service).

In addition to his production projects, Sampson directed the short films Godot and Red Fish and the documentary The Latest on Fashion and co-directed 20 and 10, The Fire, The Word, and a Coca-Cola spot for the halftime of the Futbol Worldcup 2014.

Sampson was born in México City, where he studied film at Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica and minored in directing and producing. He was selected into the Berlinale Talent Campus in 2005 and received the Young Artists Fellowship 2009-2010 for screenwriting. He has also attended workshops on screenwriting, acting, and directing at the EICTV School of San Antonio de Los Baños, Cuba, where he later returned to teach a production workshop and serve on the thesis committee.
